Springtime buzz

Springtime buzz

Welcome Spring & Beltane!

We've been busy bees on the land the past few weeks!
We have plenty of great grass here, which I’m thankful for, but turning some of it into usable dirt took several weeks. Since I wasn’t sure exactly where the garden would go, I decided to skip the tarp method. Instead, we tilled and amended the soil, with a little help from the ducks and chickens. Their droppings and duck bath water add valuable nutrients to the soil, helping the plants grow and thrive!

One of my favorite parts of spring this year is seeing what sprouts naturally. After years of renting and having no control over yard care, I was delighted to find a yarrow patch growing beneath an apple tree at the edge of our orchard. I am so grateful to finally have a yard where plants won't be mowed away unless we choose to.

It feels so settling to experience such a gift from the Earth.

How has the Earth embraced you during this shift into spring?
